Cleaning custody suites and secure facilities

Custody and secure environments are unlike any other cleaning setting. The work is familiar, cells, booking rooms, interview rooms, sanitary facilities, but everything around it is governed by access, vetting and evidential rules.

Access is the first hurdle

Work proceeds only once access, vetting and any evidential restrictions are resolved with the site. DBS checks are not the same as prison or police clearance, and each establishment has its own requirements.

A professional cleaning partner treats these requirements as part of the job, not an inconvenience: induction, escorted working and information-handling rules are followed exactly.

The cleaning itself

Cells and sanitary facilities need thorough, scheduled cleaning and periodic deep cleans, with contamination response available when incidents occur. Bodily-fluid contamination is a regular reality in custody settings, so the response arrangements should be agreed before they are needed.

Records matter here as much as anywhere: what was cleaned, when, and by whom.

Working around the regime

Custody suites operate around the clock, so cleaning is planned around the establishment's regime. Cells are cleaned when they are vacated, and shared areas are worked in agreed windows. Flexibility and clear communication with the site team keep the programme moving.
